With the only graduate programs in Canada accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI), UQAM School of Management (ESG UQAM) is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its Master’s-level programs in Project Management. These programs were recently re-accredited for a period of seven years by the Project Management Institute (PMI), an international standard in the field. The reputation of ESG UQAM as a leader in project management is also based on the research excellence of its Project Management Chair and the expertise of its teachers.
The expertise of ESG UQAM in project management
- ESG UQAM includes one of the largest research teams in the world, with fourteen professor-researchers in project management, who are actively involved in both research and teaching;
- ESG UQAM offers five programs in project management : the Specialized Graduate Diploma in Project Management (DESS); the Short Graduate Program in Project Management; the Master’s in Project Management (Professional); the Masters in Project Management (Cooperative); and the MSc in Project Management (Research);
- They are the only programs in Canada to have been accredited by the PMI for more than 20 years;
- ESG UQAM provides continuing training in project management through its Executive Education Centre. That training includes Webinars in Project Management, which provide Professional Development Units (PDUs) required for certification by the Project Management Institute.
New mandate for the Project Management Chair
On September 11, ESG UQAM held a ceremony to mark the second mandate for the Project Management Chair, created in 2007 and chaired since its inception by Professor Brian Hobbs. It has received grants totalling $700,000 through the renewal of gifts from four financial partners (Agence métropolitaine de transport, Société de transport de Montréal, Ericsson Canada Inc. and Hydro-Québec), and the participation of three new organisations (Infrastructure Québec, Banque Nationale and Ville de Montréal).
The numerous honours awarded to its professor-researchers attest to the research quality of research namely, a Research Achievement Award recently presented to Professor Brian Hobbs by the Project Management Institute.
Upcoming: MGP Week from October 9 to 12
From October 9 to 12, La semaine MGP (MGP Week) will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the graduate programs in Project Management (Maîtrise en Gestion de Projet) at ESG UQAM. Organized by the Master’s in Project Management Student Association, the Week will offer a variety of activities, including a reunion, roundtables and the presentation of research in the presence of distinguished guests from different backgrounds.
